  2. Hi, I am now the proud owner of a Pentax K100d - which I absolutely love!!! That is except 1 thing! - I can't seem to update the firmware!!! V 1.0 is on the camera at the minute and I have downloaded the new firmware from Pentax's website, but when I put the.bin file on the root of the SD card and start the camera holding the menu button, I only see the firmware version on the screen.
  3. It's grown a lot since then, though, and now provides support for many Pentax K-series DSLRs. (Only the.ist series, K100D, K100D Super, K110D, K-m / K2000 and 645D aren't supported by the program.).

Pentax K100D Super Reviews

Shutterbug reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“Ergonomics are good but because I like bigger rather than smaller cameras, I missed the battery grip that’s optional with the K10D. To keep the price down it uses a penta-mirror instead of a prism, but the view through the lens was never anything but clear and bright.”

PopPhoto reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“In tests using our DxO Analyzer 2.0 software, the Pentax Shake Reduction system produced an advantage of up to 2 stops, with the shakiest shooters gaining the most advantage. A good result, to be sure, but we have found that quite a few stabilized lenses can beat that.”

PhotographyBlog reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“with the 18-55mm kit lens attached the K100D Super delivers colour-rich, well-saturated images, though this can be further boosted in camera if desired… It also handles noise more than adequately given its unpretentious status. Though results at maximum ISO 3200 show visible grain, they’re certainly not throwaway, and while white balance accuracy can vary from shot to shot, it’s largely ‘on the money’ and reliable.”

CNET.uk reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“For a beginner with no history of dSLR ownership — so no old lenses to find a new home for — the choice of the Pentax K100D Super is a veritable no brainer. It’s built to last, quick in operation, delivers warm and colourful images straight out of the camera that are on a par with 10-megapixel rivals and did we mention that it’s a bargain at £370? ”

ePhotozine reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“Moving up to ISO400 it’s a little more noticeable, being green and blue but doesn’t affect the usability of the camera. At ISO800 the grey card noise is harsher, and it’s now visible in the black card and the yellow centre is slightly softer. Still usable though. ”

ComputerActive reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“Overall We gave the K100D Super’s predecessor – the plain old K100D – four stars, because at the time it was a little pricey given its modest headline specification. Now with a price drop of over £150, and dust reduction added, there are very few reasons why your first DSLR purchase shouldn’t be a Pentax.”

DigitalCameraReview reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
” I expected between 500 and 1000 exposures with the lithium batteries. However, much to my surprise, the camera still indicated the batteries had a nearly full charge after 1480 shots!….Bottom line, at the entry level price point, the K100D Super is the best value on the market.”

Steve’sDigicams reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“The image noise was practically non-existent at ISO 200, at ISO 400 it’s still very clean, and at ISO 800 shadow noise becomes noticeable. At ISO 1600 noise becomes noticeable in highlights, but the images are quite usable. ”

Let’sGoDigital reviews the Pentax K100D Super and writes;
“The Pentax K100D is a camera that should certainly be taken into consideration if you are looking for an attractively priced DSLR, and want to, for instance, take the step from a compact camera to a digital SLR. ”

Pentax K2000 Firmware Update

Based on the extremely popular PENTAX K100D lens-interchangeable digital SLR camera, the easy-to-hold and easy-to-use K100D Super features an innovative Dust Removal (DR) system to keep dust off the CCD surface and ensure optimum image quality. It also incorporates the PENTAX-developed Shake Reduction (SR) system which reduces camera shake for sharp, blur-free images even under the most demanding shooting conditions such as when using a telephoto lens or for extended exposures for sunset and night scenes.

The K100D Super’s sophisticated SAFOX VIII auto-focus system has 11 sensor points (with nine cross-type sensors in the middle) to automatically capture off centre subjects in crisp focus. By combining 6.1 effective megapixels with a high-performance imaging engine and advanced image-processing technologies, the K100D Super is designed to produce beautiful true-to-life images that are rich in gradation. In addition, it boasts a choice of two finishing touches of natural or bright to create a distinctive atmosphere and an Auto Picture mode for effortless point and shoot photography.
